Students participating in the FASA voice track have the opportunity to develop great vocal technique and apply those skills to classic and modern styles. Singing fun and familiar favorites, students will work in many configurations, small groups, choir and solos. Voice track performances will feature jazzy accompaniment by the FASA big band.

Required Courses:

All students will participate in the following.

Private Voice Lessons:

Student tuition includes two private lessons per students. Please come prepared with any repertoire you desire to develop with your instructor. Additional private lessons may be purchased for $50 an hour.

Choir:

Students will build basic vocal technique, while learning the repertoire to be performed in the vocal track performance, as well as the final show.

Solo and Small Group Rehearsals:

The music to be performed by the vocal track will offer students the opportunity to perform as soloists as well as in small groups. Groups and soloists will have specific time each day with a vocal coach to master parts along side stage presence and delivery.

Applied Theory and Piano Basics:

Week one: Vocalists will participate in a daily 2 hour course that combines both theory and basic piano. The goal is to develop not only the vocal skill of students but also their harmonic understanding to improve overall musicality. This course will teach music theory and piano as a means of general music knowledge.

Week two: Students of all tracks will assemble to prepare for the final performance.

Elective Courses of Study:

The following classes are available for an additional fee.

Piano for Non Pianists:

This group piano class is designed for singers looking to bolster their general music skills and knowledge through the study of the piano, greatly aiding their ability to read music, understand theory, and eventually accompany themselves while they sing.

Bluegrass Band:

Traditional bluegrass instruments, fiddle, guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo (banjo is only a secondary instrument), and voice are eligible to participate. Each group will have a private coach, and will learn basic soloing/group skills. This elective will be offered daily for one hour during week one only. $75 additional fee.

Songwriting:

Are you interested in writing your own music and lyrics? Here’s your chance to get started. Songwriting classes will guide students who are just beginning, while developing experienced writers who are already hooked, blending the study of both lyric writing and musical composition. This elective will be offered daily for one hour during week one only. $75 additional fee.

Composition and Arranging:

Taught by Bill Wolaver, master arranger and composer, the composition and arranging class is designed for students interested in composing and arranging. It will focus on techniques for melodic and harmonic development, as well as orchstration.This elective will be offered daily for one hour during week one only. $75 additional fee.
